Birthday Party Inspiration

This past week we had the luck to see our baby girl turn one and throw her a big birthday bash in the company of all of out closest friends and family (even Amelia's aunt and cousin were there via skype and we loved it) and it was quite an event. I really wanted to make it special, but i wanted it to be more about the company of our loved ones and make it cozy and warm than about the decoration. It was a private celebration with about 27 of our closest friends and family (we have a big family).-

I never really cared for baby birthday parties before and i will probably tone it down in the future but the first birthday seems to me like SUCH a milestone i felt like i needed to go all out with the celebration. I initially started looking through Pinterest for inspiration but then i got all excited with it and felt like everything i saw i wanted and some of these things were waaaaay out of my crafting skills. Then, I proceeded to look through my embarrassingly big pdf folder of freebies and printables i've gathered over the years and saved up for special occasions and ended up frustrated and overwhelmed with everything (after all this is the first time I planed a) a whole party by myself and b) a baby party. )
*Its not like a had to plan it out all by myself, I did have a lot of people who offered to help but i was really particular about the things i wanted and i kind of had it planned out in my head 6 months ago so i decided to do it all. At the end I accepted some help because I didn't have enough time.*

Mini rant: (If you are not interested you can go ahead and scroll down to de pretty birthday inspiration)
I got this close to just throwing the towel and quitting but i felt really bad to not give my baby a special celebration as i know she deserves. So i kept going and it was not always easy and   just happy times (Thanks to me and my jhsdfgjhds mood) and tears of frustration were shed (again by me) and now looking back I think it was worth every second of it all.
It really was a happy moment for all of us and I'm glad we did it and i am really proud of myself for being strong and being patient and I don't think I have to apologize for my not.so.great.mood  because sometimes dealing with people is hard and sometimes you don't want to do it but sometimes you just HAVE to. You can't make those people go away. but what you can do is make de best out of the situation.

Now, getting back to the pretty pictures...
I'll try my best to link to every single source but some I don't know where I got, it's been several years since I started saving pdfs and pictures in my computer and sometimes its hard to keep up. If you happen to know where any of this images are from I would greatly appreciate if you inform me so I can link to the proper source.

Our Mornings

Our morning routine is pretty fun (maybe not that much when mamma is sleepy still) but today thas wasn't the case.
We had an AWESOME time when we both woke up.

I'm so lucky to have this little play buddy that makes me laugh when she comes up with random games such as 'Let's take everything out of mommy's purse and fill it with toys instead' and 'Sticking my tongue inside the formula dispenser' or maybe 'Opening it and turning it around making a mess all over the floor because formula is really not THAT expensive'.

We then proceeded to roll over on the floor, play with the Backyardigans' plush dolls and press every botton of every stereo in the house. Let me tell you, those are Amelia's favorite activities in the world along with taking out every single toy she owns and throwing them around. This girl is a messy one. ;)

Tah-Dah! You are 9 months old.

I am sad about seeing you grow up so fast but also really excited for the new things happening right now. You really know how to make us all laugh.

You dance to every song that's playing and dance even when we are in silence.
You wave every time someone says hi or goodbye.
You scream Mama or Papa when you are upset.
When someone asks you if you love them you shake your head saying no.
Greeting grandpa and dad everyday with excitement (cue heavy breathing, bouncing and moving arms up and down)
You laugh just to show your teeth because you know everyone thinks its adorable.
You like random T.V. commercials that have music on them and you stop doing whatever is keeping you busy at the time, open your little eyes and just stare.
Diaper change is starting to get really annoying for you. You'll kick and scream and turn around as soon as the pants are off.
You like drinking apple, pear and peach juice and refuse to have your formula during the day. Also, you like eating crackers, rice, bread, home made butternut squash soup courtesy of dear grandma, yogurt, and refuse to eat chicken or meat.
You still dislike bananas.

You are having a hard time with strangers and demand to be attached to my hipbone for the first 5 to 10 minutes.
You like our little dance parties.
Bath time with daddy is fun until you get out of the water and have to be dressed. Oh, the drama.
You went from sleeping all night to waking up 2 times. Thankfully you drink your bottle half asleep (You should get some sort of badge/price for that) and go right back to sleep.
You officially can't be left alone for more than 1.5 seconds.
My guess is that all that juice you have (8 ounces though out the morning + 4 in the afternoon + 2 around 4 or 5 pm) is making you hyper because you like laughing 24/7 and can't stay still.
You are curious about eyes and feet and tattoos.
You know how to take out the wipes and can't get enough of that.
Still HATE the doctor.
Love spending the weekends with daddy.

Up to last week you showed no sings of wanting to crawl. Instead you just liked being standing up with grown-up's help and would get in a terrible mood if someone tried to sit you back down.
This week though, you are becoming better at pushing yourself forward and staying face down longer.
You are more confident and curious.
When you get asked 'guess who is here' you understand that someone just arrived and look immediately to the door waiting for someone to show up.
You like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, Angelina Ballerina, Milly and Molly, Edward Shape and the magnetic zeroes (way too much if you ask me) and Sponge bob's credit song.
Still like mirrors and laugh staring at yourself when we pass by one.

So for all this reasons and much much more baby, we are proud of you and can't wait to see you grow up just as pretty as you are now.
Happy 9 months Baby A!

Party

Yesterday was a success. Amelia got invited to her first birthday party. It was her cousin's party. He turned 7. The party was great but baby A stole the show.

Everyone had they star wars costume on but I think this little guy didn't got that memo. Here is something I never thought I'd see. Batman holding a light-saber. He is also hiding from me because I chased him down a good 15 minutes trying to get a picture of him. I think I might have freaked him out because at the end whenever he saw me he would just ran away.

At was just a good day.

Photoboothing with A.

Today was the 4rth month (4month and 3 week but shh) check-up with the doc and it went fairly good. After getting there 10 minutes late, we were informed that the doctor arrived 10 minutes before we did. GREAT. He had a lot of patients waiting for him and oh-my-god-we're-going-to-be-here-until-10pm.
Kind of.
1:30 and we finally hear the word we were waiting for the last 4579353 hours. "your turn". We went in and it all went pretty smoothly. Amelia is big and healthy and this little chest noises she has since last week turned out to be nothing. Thank god.
Now that its over we can go back to photoboothing like crazy people everyday.
Thats a good thing because... who can resist that pretty face? I'd like to know.
